Developer Tools leans free, and it leans hard into it. Out of the 2,373 apps tracked here, 1,634 don't charge a cent, which leaves just 739 as paid listings, a 68.9%-to-31.1% split. But among the apps that do charge, the bargain-bin tier doesn't actually win. The $1–2.99 band comes out ahead with 251 apps, beating $0.01–0.99 at 194 and $3–4.99 at 131. There's a genuine tail above that too: 105 apps sit in $5–9.99, and 58 hold firm at $10+. Those 58 apps charging double-digit prices are proof that specialized, premium tooling still finds buyers, even while most of the category gives its products away just to build reach.

App counts and rating share are pulling in opposite directions here. 兰桂 吴 leads the category on pure volume with 20 apps, yet pulls in less than 0.1% of category ratings. PremiumSoft CyberTech Ltd. and BRIDGETECH SOLUTIONS LIMITED post 13 and 12 apps respectively, and both stay under 0.1% too. Even 小文 黄, the standout of this volume-heavy group with 19 apps, only turns that catalog into 1,848 ratings, a mere 0.2% of the category. Add it up: the top three publishers by app count combine for just 0.2% of all category ratings. In Developer Tools, shipping a pile of apps buys you shelf space. It doesn't buy you user feedback.

A handful of named leaders actually hold people's attention here, and one app towers over the rest. TestFlight has racked up 788,591 ratings, roughly eighteen times what the second-place app, NextVPN: Fast & Secure Proxy, manages at 43,953. 力扣 LeetCode (41,943) and GitHub (35,413) trail close behind those two, and Replit: Vibe Code with AI Fast closes out the top five at 20,119, still an order of magnitude behind TestFlight. Set against a category median rating of 4.5 and 1,126,498 total ratings spread across only 1,093 rated apps, this leaderboard tells the real story: Developer Tools rewards a small set of utility-grade, infrastructure-adjacent products (testing, VPN access, coding practice, source control), not the high-volume, low-yield publishing that dominates the top app-count names.

Bar length is each publisher's share of ratings; the app count beside it shows how few apps that reach can rest on. Publishers are the store's own IDs — corporate parents are not merged, so concentration reads conservative.

What this report cannot tell you
We measure public listing metadata: prices, ratings, sizes, publishers. We cannot see downloads, revenue, active users, or retention, and we do not estimate them. Ratings reflect lifetime accumulation, not current popularity, and in-app pricing is invisible to us.
