Read side by side, the charts show which apps are genuinely global (the same handful sitting near the top in most storefronts) and which are local phenomena that never leave one market — a distinction a single-country chart can't reveal. Positions are Apple's and shift through the day; we snapshot them, we don't rank them.

Apple’s own public top-free and top-paid iPhone rankings for each country storefront, mirrored here and refreshed through the day. They rank apps by download momentum, not by quality or rating, so a chart-topper is what is popular right now, not necessarily what is best.

Why the country matters

The same app can sit at number one in one country and be nowhere in another. Comparing storefronts is a fast way to see how taste shifts across markets, which apps are local hits, and which are truly global. Free and paid charts also tell different stories: the paid chart rewards apps people will actually pay for.

Popular vs. loved

A high chart position and a high rating are not the same thing. For apps genuinely loved at scale, cross-reference the best rated with real volume board. And for the rare apps that chart in the most countries at once, that breadth is a stronger signal than any single number one.
