A Tie for the Lead, Then a Cliff

Darty Sécurité and HandyRecorder are sharing the top spot right now, each sitting on 17 iPad screenshots, which is a bit odd since the board usually thins out once you get past whoever's in front. Darty Sécurité, from French retailer Darty.com, took the #1 slot away from HandyRecorder, the recording app from ZOOM Corporation, which had only managed to hold the lead for 3 of the last 25 tracked days. That top spot has actually changed hands 31 times across the tracking window, meaning it's flipped nearly as often as it's stayed put over those 25 days.

Just below the tied leaders, things drop off quickly. Black Border 3: Premium comes in at 16, a single screenshot behind, and VIP Betting Tips: Predictions lands at 15, so a two-screenshot gap covers just two ranking spots. After that the slope evens out into something closer to a plateau, with BVOffice and New York Fried Chicken tied at 12 screenshots for #5 and #6. Same kind of tie as up top, just with a lot less riding on it.

How Far the Tail Stretches

By position #100, the count has leveled off at 10 screenshots, down from 17 at the very top, and it gets there through a steady slide across the full hundred rather than any one sharp drop. The leader's count works out to roughly 1.7 times the median for those hundred apps, so the front of the board is above the norm, just not dramatically so. Most listings bunch up in the low-to-mid teens before tapering off toward that 10-screenshot floor at the bottom.

The Repeat Name You Won't See at the Top

One developer, Nitrio, turns up 10 separate times in the top 100, which is a lot of repetition for one name, but none of those ten listings crack the visible top ten. All ten land in the back half of the ranking instead. That's a different pattern from the churn happening at #1. Instead of one app pushing its screenshot count as high as it can go, Nitrio seems to have built out a big slate of apps that all ended up clustering in roughly the same tablet-listing range.

The #1 seat isn't the only volatile spot, either. Apps within the top ten move by about 3 places on average over the tracked window, and given there's only a two-screenshot spread between #1 and #4, that's plenty to reshuffle the visible ranking even if no app's actual screenshot count budges. Chinh Đồ 2 Origin, SCADA & PLC Academy, and Siddur - Edot HaMizrach are bunched together at 11 screenshots near the lower end of the top ten, right in that tight margin where a single new arrival, say HandyRecorder popping up again, could shift several positions all at once.
